A large piece of toxic palm oil has been removed from Holywell Bay after washing up on the beach.

Newquay Coastguard Rescue Team was called to the scene at around 4:20pm on Thursday to investigate reports of pollution. Upon arrival, they located the substance and moved it to a safe place for collection by the council.

The team has thanked Holywell Bay Surf Life Saving Club and local residents for their help. They are also urging anyone who spots suspicious substances along the coast to report them.
