Newquay’s GP surgeries are urging residents to be vigilant after a man posing as a healthcare professional gained access to a patient’s home in Saltash.
Both the Narrowcliff Surgery and Newquay Health Centre have issued warnings.
The man, who identified himself as "Jerry," claimed he was from a local surgery and may have called ahead to arrange the visit.
The surgeries are reminding residents to always ask for identification before allowing anyone into their homes. They also advise contacting the surgery directly if there is any doubt about a visitor’s legitimacy.
Patients are further urged to report any suspicious behaviour and, if they feel in immediate danger, to contact the police by dialling 999.
