Radio Newquay will be different from other radio stations.
Broadcast from our town, we will be the only station talking about Newquay with news, music and information about the place where we love to live.
We won’t be funded through the licence fee and won’t have shareholders demanding annual dividends. Every penny the radio station raises through sponsorship & advertising will pay for the station.
Your Town: Your Station
We will complement existing local radio stations with a tailored news and information service specifically for Newquay and the surrounding villages. This means you won’t hear about Plymouth or Penzance but you will hear the latest news from our community. We’ll also bring you surf updates, sport, weather and happenings around our town.
Radio Newquay will be a voice for our community by giving residents and the huge range of organisations, including charities, schools, groups, clubs, churches, independent traders, a platform to shout about their activities. If it’s happening in our town you’ll hear about it on Radio Newquay.
A UK First
As the UK’s surfing capital, our service will be a UK first by supporting and promoting the town’s surf community. The station will feature the latest forecasts, water safety information PLUS surf news & developments, not just in the sport locally but also around the world.
Regular content related to the town’s surf culture, including information about contests, events, the vibrant local music scene and festivals will also feature.
Radio training for local people
We will complement our hyper-local output with specialist music programming in the evening, presented by local people
Once on-air, Radio Newquay will launch a training academy, offering training courses in the skills of radio presentation & production to people of all ages and from all walks of life.
Successful graduates will be invited to join our team of volunteers and present regularly on the station.
